Wine Profile
Tasting Notes
A robust, flavourful, and spicy medium-bodied Syrah with soft, ripe tannins. Revealing a bouquet of black pepper, cherry, currant, tobacco, truffle, and baking spices on the nose, accompanied by powerful notes of black cherry jam, thyme, white pepper, hibiscus, and roasted raspberry on the palate.
Vineyard Notes
2022 was marked by extremes. First, we experienced a remarkably long and wet spring, which transitioned into a blistering summer, followed by an extended ripening season with little threat of smoke and ideal conditions. However, towards the end of the year, we faced catastrophic freezing.
This wine consists of 100% Estate-grown and organically farmed grapes. It was a very forgiving vintage with perfect fruit. The 2022 wines will age for 7 - 15 years and develop into great examples of what South Okanagan wines can offer. This is a rare, classic vintage from BC that we suggest collecting, as the 2022 French Door red wines are our best vintage yet!
Production Notes
The Syrah underwent 50% whole-cluster fermentation at 21 degrees Celsius with punch-downs for only three weeks before the juice was pressed into neutral Ermitage barrels. The wine was aged for 14 months with one racking in July to neutral Nadalie barrels to soften the oak characteristics.
