French Door Estate Winery proudly presents our meticulously crafted 100% Cabernet Sauvignon "Solera" wine, a testament to the vision and expertise of our winemaking team. This unique creation showcases the unparalleled potential of Cabernet Sauvignon grapes in the South Okanagan.
Given the challenges of achieving a perfect Cabernet Sauvignon harvest in any single vintage, Winemaker Bree McKeage and her team implemented a sophisticated cellaring technique known as the "Solera System." In this method, the most recent and youthful vintage of Cabernet Sauvignon is blended with the preceding vintage, and so forth, over four years.
The result is a diligently monitored and detailed blend encompassing four distinct vintages, each contributing its unique qualities. By leveraging the strengths of each Cabernet Sauvignon vintage, we have artfully crafted a wine that stands as the epitome of ultra-premium quality, thoroughness, and, ultimately, perfection.

Tasting Notes
The Solera commences with a bouquet of blackberry, toasted cranberry, and cherry, followed by lavender, coco nibs, fennel, and cedar. The front palate reveals notes of bright red fruits, black currant, and sun-dried tomato-like acidity. The mid-palate introduces flavours of red beet, pomegranate juice, tobacco, and toasted coconut. The finish leaves lasting impressions of black olive, fennel, blackberry jam, and cedar. Only 50 cases were produced.

Our winemaking team recommends ageing the Solera for a period of seven to twenty years. The potential for development and refinement during this extended period promises a rewarding drinking experience, unveiling deeper complexities and nuances over time.
